I've
always loved to draw. When I was 9 I sat down
to watch my Grandfather, "Paw Paw",
play dominoes. I started to draw a profile
in pencil on school paper of Paw Paw. Nobody
believed I did it, so I drew everyone in the
family.
Many years later I did an engagement "pencil
sketch" of my wife to be, Donna. I could
barely afford the paper the portrait was drawn
on. That portrait has a place of importance,
right behind my easels, in my Bentwater Studio,
today.
I didn't draw or paint again for almost 32
years. I spent those years doing what a man's
supposed to do...I went out every day and
tried to make a living. I've been very lucky
to work as an Account Executive for the largest
apparel manufacturer in the world for the
last 26 years. My work schedule allows me
to spend the 3 hours a night 2 to 3 nights
a week, and most weekends, doing what I love
most...painting.
I've been lucky enough to learn from some
of the best Artists around, Tommy Fitzpatrick,
Tina Szojko, Dan Thompson and Geoffrey Laurence
at Andreeva Portrait Academy in Sante Fe,
New Mexico.
I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I
enjoyed painting them.
Thanks,
Bob Shepherd
